Combat in other games deals mere damage. AMPUTHEATRE's combat deals Carnage.

The AMPUTHEATRE combat engine has 15 Basic Attacks. Each Slasher packs anywhere from four to ten of these in their Basic Attack List. Each Attack requires its victim to employ a specific Reversal (whether it is Countered, Dodged, or Resisted.) Attack dice are rolled against Reversal Rolls- whoever rolls the most hits wins the Combat.

Hits from both combatants will cancel each other, and the desperation to survive means that a defender can decimate an attacker at any time.

If the Attacker wins, Carnage is dealt and the status of the attack takes immediate effect.

If the Defender wins, they may perform Counter-Carnage if the Attack was Countered, or perform an immediate Movement if they Dodged.

Resisting an attack grants the Defender an Onslaught if they wish. Onslaughts allow Slashers to attack each other immediately, regardless of the turn order.

Every 10 Pints Of Carnage inflicted spreads a Pool of Blood onto the battlefield. A bonus of 10 additional Pints of Carnage (a Massacre) is performed if one combatant rolls NO hits.
